As my last hours as State Librarian draw to a close, I wanted to take a minute to say good-bye to all of you – my dedicated colleagues.
Libraries have changed a lot since I first got to the good ole "DOL" in January of 1980. We've gone from teletypes to wireless. Snail mail to blogs. It's been an exciting and challenging time to be in the library profession.
Many of the public libraries, I first visited to do training on email and VALS way back in 1989 and many more during the great years of the Vermont Public Library Foundation Freeman grants.
Vermonters are fortunate to have all of you on the front lines as their "knowledge navigators" on the "information highway" (to resort to a couple of well-worn phrases).
Keep up the good work. I've enjoyed working with you all.
Now I'm off to read a few good books . . .
Regards,
Sybil Brigham McShane
